The main function of mirrors is to facilitate us to tidy up our clothes and dress up. In addition to bedrooms, dressers, porches, and other places, bathrooms also need wall mirrors. As the size of the bathroom space is different, the size of the mirror installed is also different. It can be a full-length mirror or a half-length mirror. However, the size of the mirror varies and the installation method varies. There are three types of wall mirror installation, namely nail fixing method, pasting method, and pressing method. Let’s briefly introduce some installation methods.
I. Nail Fixing Method
- Paving board. In order to increase the stability of the mirror and reduce damage to the wall. A lining must be laid between the mirror and the wall. The lining can be made of plywood. The thickness is about 5 mm. It can be fixed to the wall. Connect to the wall ribs with small nails. Or use a 3 mm thick sponge block as the gasket material. Latex can be used for bonding.
- Drilling. This installation method requires the use of screws to hang the mirror on the wall. It is necessary to use a glass drill to punch holes in the back of the mirror. The position of the opening should be consistent with the fixing position of the wall screws. Otherwise, it cannot be installed. When opening the holes on the back of the mirror, the positions of the holes should be evenly distributed. And don’t get close to the edge, otherwise, the mirror crack will easily occur. A pistol must be used to drill holes in the wall during installation. And put the expanded plastic tube into the hole.
- Fix the mirror surface. Mirror installation requires screws. Make the mirror holes correspond to the expanded plastic tubes on the wall one by one. Fix them with screws. For aesthetics, a decorative cover must be installed at the mirror hole to hide screws and holes.
- Sealant. After hanging the mirror, you must use a caulking paste to seal the edge of the mirror. This is to enhance stability and ensure safe use. Apply caulking paste evenly around the side joints. It is important to avoid contact with water before the glue dries.
II. Sticking Method
- Remove dust. This method requires glue. The dust on the back of the mirror and the wall must be cleaned before applying glue. This is to not affect the degree of adhesion. Especially particulate dust and other dirt. Install the mirror to ensure that there are no water stains on the wall or behind the mirror. Otherwise, it will affect the bonding performance of the glue.
- Stick a protective layer. It is best to stick a protective layer on the back. This is to improve the safety factor and stability of the mirror. The protective layer is usually made of kraft paper. And glue it to the back of the mirror.
- Smear glue. Spread it evenly on the kraft paper on the back of the mirror. It is best to apply a layer of glue on the wall where the mirror is installed. This can better improve the adhesion fastness. The specific position of the wall brush can be determined by covering it with a mirror in advance. It is best to draw a line around it. The glue applied to the mirror should preferably be a product with strong adhesion and waterproof.
- Stick the mirror surface. After gluing, the mirror can be installed. It is best to wait until the glue is half dry before attaching the mirror to the wall. This is to prevent the glue from sagging due to pressure and gravity during the pasting process. You can press the mirror with both hands when you paste the mirror. Make the bond between the two stronger. In the pasting process, pay special attention to the corners that must be tightly attached. In order to avoid the danger of falling when used later.
III. Embedding and Pressing Method
- Fix the picture frame. If the bathroom mirror uses metal strips or wooden wires as the frame, it can be installed by inserting it. Metal strips such as aluminum alloy, stainless steel, etc. The first step in the installation is to first fix the frame to the wall. The fixing frame can be fastened. The frame around the mirror is fixed to the wall by screws.
- Cut the mirror surface. After the frame is fixed, you need to cut the mirror according to its size. You can first use markers to mark the surface of the mirror. Then use a glass knife to cut it immediately. It is best to operate on the table when cutting the mirror. It can also be operated on flat ground. However, in order not to cause damage to the ground, it is better to put a layer of plywood on it.
- Install the mirror surface. Special studs can be used to embed the cutting mirror in the baffle. The stud can be screwed directly into the stud at the corner of the mirror. No need to drill in advance.
Whether it is the nail fixing method, pasting method, or mosaic method, it has its scope of application. When you choose wall mirrors, you’d better install large-area mirrors. Embedding methods are used to enhance robustness and appearance. To install a full-length mirror, nails can usually be fixed. Or a combination of nail fixing method and pasting method. To install some half-length mirrors or small-area mirrors, please consider using the paste method.
