In principle, hardware is similar, since visitor calls the phone and you can watch video from cameras connected to the intercom on the phone. But the difference is still huge.
P2P video intercoms are quite an excellent solution for installing in an apartment and then connecting it to an access intercom.

IP Video Intercom
In theory, all the same functions are performed by the usual P2P intercom, but IP intercom is a real network device. When installing IP video intercoms in offices and business centers, the installation and configuration are noticeably faster and even cheaper than for analog intercoms. With an existing local network, you can install an outdoor panel, indoor phone or monitor anywhere, at any time and in any place, without laying additional wires. All devices are simply plugged into the local network and assigned a device address. Then you can configure your IP video intercoms as you want – a call box can ring on all monitors or first on the first then on the other and so on.
So today, when the technological equipment is steadily getting cheaper, it makes sense not to get locked into a standard analog intercom system, and look at the new solutions based on ip intercoms.
